Portfolio choices

Pilot

Compare choices in your project portfolio with PRISMA.

For portfolio managers and municipal leaders when not everything can proceed. PRISMA compares choices using goals, risks, budgets and capacity; people make the final decision.

See what changes when you choose different priorities.

Place different project choices side by side and show what the comparison is based on. This makes a difficult decision easier to discuss and explain.

Your organisation profile connects the work.

Goals, roles, working methods and validated knowledge provide the context for this building block. During onboarding, we agree what is needed. That profile can then grow with further applications, within the permissions agreed for your organisation.

The challenge

Prioritisation is hard to explain without agreed criteria.

Projects compete for the same budgets, people and leadership attention. If criteria and assumptions are hidden, prioritisation quickly feels subjective.

Competing priorities

Several initiatives require budget, people and executive attention at the same time.

Hidden dependencies

A change in one project can affect other parts of the portfolio.

Hard-to-explain choices

Criteria, weighting and assumptions are not always visible in the final judgement.

Benefits to test

Choices that are easier to compare and explain.

In a pilot, test whether choices become easier to compare and whether criteria, assumptions and uncertainty remain visible during decision-making.

Explicit criteria and assumptions

Make clear what a comparison is based on.

Comparable multiple scenarios

See the possible effects of different choices.

Traceable decision-making

Retain context for discussion and accountability.

Frequently asked questions

Good to know before you begin

Does PRISMA make portfolio decisions?

No. PRISMA supports analysis and scenario exploration. Authorised people weigh public interests and make the decision.

Are scenarios predictions?

No. They show what follows from selected data and assumptions. Uncertainty and missing information must be part of the review.

How does PRISMA differ from FOCUS?

PRISMA compares possible portfolio choices. FOCUS turns selected project information into a short summary with decision questions.

Can PRISMA use data from P3RIMA?

That is the intended connection. The technical options and data definitions are explored for each environment.

What is its current status?

PRISMA is being developed and tested as a pilot. Current capabilities and availability are confirmed for each pilot.
